Jeanie Tomasko

Usually, the body wants to live

                                                  and the heart supplies.

Or the heart demands

                                                  and the body finds a way.

Even if there’s a quarrel with price;

                                                  one will usually pay anything for another day.

And then your son says a friend took her life.

                                                  And there it is, again

the body’s small economy:

                                                  a girl that must have wanted

happiness,

                                                  a heart that could supply

only what it had.
