Tabor Flickinger

It’s not just a patio dining set
but another world in which
I live by the sea and that
life is clean, symmetrical, color-
coordinated. My cushions are
graphite, eggshell, and peacock.
I serve fresh homemade lemonade
to sophisticated friends with
good taste, like mine.
There is no shadow of the
avalanche, held back barely with
busy hands and weary will,
no faces ripped apart by stray
bullets, no girls dressed only in
blood crimson, bruise purple, terror white.
